ITU Arab Regional Development Forum, Tunisia

FTTH Council MENA participated in this event organized by the ITU and MINCOM Ministry of ICT of Tunisia, which has focused on countries experiences based on the development of ICTs and national broadband plans, as well as the challenges faced in the framework of policies and regulation development.

HE Mr Mongi Marzouk, Minister of ICT of Tunisia, inaugurated the meeting with an interesting speech during the opening ceremony. Fiber Optics was the main subject of his speech as best technology to build fiber optics networks and completing by other technologies if needed but most important is the Fiber network. He also mentioned and promoted Fiber optics to be the most important to link consumers and homes and to boost investments.
ITU has focused on key achievements of the ITU/BDT in the Arab Region, including discussions on Regional Initiatives, main results achieved in the implementation of BDT Programs and Resolutions of the World Telecommunication Development Conference and Plenipotentiary Conference.
Christine Beylouni, Director General of FTTH Council MENA, has participated in the meeting and discussed the role of FTTH in the social and economic development including the latest figures of FTTH in the MENA region.
